Passengers Subdue Unruly Man After Bomb Claim on easyJet London Luton to Glasgow Flight

GLASGOW, 27 July 2025 — An unruly passenger on EasyJet Flight EZY609 from London Luton to Glasgow caused panic mid-flight after making alarming bomb-related threat and claim. He was restrained by fellow travellers before the aircraft made an emergency landing and police arrested him on arrival.

The 41‑year‑old man reportedly emerged from the aircraft’s rear lavatory and, in a video that has since gone viral, can be heard shouting, “I’m going to bomb the plane, Death to America, Death to Trump,” while also repeating “Allahu Akbar” several times.

Intervention by Passengers

A passenger in a green jacket quickly tackled the man to the floor of the aircraft, with several others joining in to help restrain him.

Passengers described a scene of chaos as the man shoved airline staff before being subdued. He was held down by at least three passengers until the aircraft landed in Glasgow.

The pilot declared an emergency, and the plane carried out a controlled landing at Glasgow Airport at approximately 8:25 am local time.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Upon arrival, emergency services and police met the aircraft on the tarmac. At least six officers boarded, and the man was handcuffed and removed from the plane. He later admitted there was no bomb and remains in custody pending formal charges.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to The Scotsman:

“We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8:20 am … A 41‑year‑old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing.”

EasyJet confirmed the incident and stated that its crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers.

While airlines train crews to manage onboard threats, it was the swift action by alert passengers that ensured the situation was contained. With crew still making their way from the rear of the aircraft, passengers stepped in with decisive action, subduing the man through quick reflexes and coordination.

Authorities have not yet named the suspect, and formal charges are pending.
