Dubai, July 2025 — Emirates is making aviation history with the industry’s largest cabin retrofit program, refreshing one aircraft every three weeks as it rolls out its latest cabin products across its fleet. Since launching the program in November 2022, Emirates has now completed 60 widebody aircraft, including A380s and Boeing 777s. The ambitious program has a goal of over 219 aircraft, representing 110 Airbus A380s and 109 Boeing 777s, by the end of the project.
This US$5 billion initiative is transforming the passenger experience across all classes while helping Emirates expand its highly praised Premium Economy offering to more destinations worldwide.
What’s New Onboard?
Each aircraft undergoes a nose-to-tail refurbishment, introducing Emirates’ latest cabin designs and technology, aligned with what passengers can expect on the airline’s upcoming Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft.
- Premium Economy: A 2-4-2 layout with generous seat width, deeper recline, and more legroom. Includes adjustable calf rests and enhanced dining.
- Business & First Class: Refreshed finishes, enhanced seat functionality, and next-gen lighting and ambience.
- Economy Class: New seat covers, cushions, and improved IFE systems.
- In-Flight Entertainment: Larger, higher-resolution screens and expanded content selection across all classes.
- Charging & Connectivity: Upgraded USB-C and power outlets at every seat.
As retrofitted aircraft rejoin the fleet, Emirates is progressively deploying its latest Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s across major destinations.
Strategic Goals Behind the Overhaul
With 219 aircraft now scheduled for retrofit, the project ensures Emirates can deliver next-gen cabin experiences ahead of its new aircraft deliveries. The rapid expansion of Premium Economy across global routes enhances revenue potential while reinforcing Emirates’ brand leadership in comfort and innovation.
The airline expects to offer 2 million Premium Economy seats annually by the end of 2025, rising to 4 million by end-2026.
Emirates is redefining fleet modernization at scale, completing a fully refreshed aircraft every 21 days. With 60 aircraft already flying in their new configuration, Emirates is setting a new benchmark in cabin innovation and rollout speed.
As the program continues through 2026, more passengers than ever will have access to Emirates’ Premium Economy and refreshed cabin designs.
